My connection with my menstrual cycle is political. But it shouldn’t be.
Half the world experiences menstrual cycles, and 100% of us are here because of it.
We have resources to help all those people. People with painful periods. People who should have periods but find them missing. People who want to have children but struggle with fertility. People who don’t want kids but don’t have access to birth control. People who have birth control but end up in a life-threatening complication from it (that was me!).
The period is a vital sign.
And yet, the US government is restricting access to knowledge, data, and services that can improve the lives of many.
One act I’m taking this year to fill that gap will be publicizing my fertility awareness materials.
(You’ll hear more about that here on Substack in the coming months, so hit subscribe if you’re not yet.)
I don’t want anybody to struggle with conception, contraception, or tracking health due to the lack of resources from the government, not having health insurance, or state legislation that would harm them if they sought help.
In the meantime, I’ve been happy to be a guest on podcasts to chat about everything menstrual cycles– and even better when related to the outdoors!
