Crying on bike rides, $90 of meh food, and Greek yogurt bagels š„Æ - March 2025 Life Recap
Monthly check-in for people who, like me, like to snoop on others' lives.
Towards the start of every month, I share a look back at the previous one. Itās a fun way to share behind the scenes of my goals while staying accountable to reflection!
Marchās Recap āļø
Marchās theme was: āSpring Clean My Life!ā š¼ (Simplifying my offerings at work, refreshing some sports things like testing my bike heart rate zones, booking adult things like a physical and a tailor appointment, freshening up my website, etc.)
Big wins: 6 ski days, 3 talks with great audiences, 2 back-to-back bachelorette party weekends (sunny Florida and snowy Sedona), 3 live music nights, 1 escape room, a strong 47 mile bike ride, being asked to officiate two amazing friendsā wedding this summer, a few days in Bend for a change of scenery just a couple hours away š²
Challenges: For the past couple years Iāve dealt with thoracic outlet syndrome (basically compressed nerves coming out the neck) and OUCHHH I had a rough week. I think it was triggered by the multiple weeks in a row of sleeping on airplanes and a couch or two.
Marchās experiment: Well, I wanted to try a bunch of new recipes⦠and after two, I stopped tracking. (Travel didnāt make it easy to cook, either.) But, Iām kinda obsessed with Greek yogurt bagels?! š„Æ Turns out you can mix flour and Greek yogurt and make perfectly moist and crispy bagels in the air fryer. Hey, even though I āfailedā at my experiment, I got some protein in.
Core 4 and Angie 3.0 progress: Eating before coffee #2 and getting outdoors before 11am is happening most days! YAY! Itās truly amazing how simply tracking behaviors can make them more likely to happen. However, my other two behaviors in the Core 4 for Q1 (ramble and check-out routine) did not stick regularly. I think itās because I wasnāt specific enough. Like, I still couldnāt tell you what my work check-out routine actually is. This week, Iāll be mulling over what to adapt in my Core 4 for Q2.
Bike race training progress: TBH, in March I cried several times mid-ride. OOF. Between a heavy bike, getting used to clipping in, and scary traffic, I had a couple mini-meltdowns.š For my April 27th 100 mile gravel race, thereās a cut-off time that Iām struggling to see how I can make. That looming pressure has sucked a lot of fun out of riding. The good news is that I rode about half the course in one go the other day and allllmost made the minimum time⦠so it could be possible???
Best thing I spent money on: This sounds too silly but⦠$8.99 for a moisture absorber for my car. My old Subie is a leaky, sad thing. I left it at the airport for a few days and came back to it covered in mold. The dehumidifier packet thingy changed my life almost overnight. My car isnāt creating its own rain anymore! YAY! However, the packet is filling up fast, so I need to see if thereās some sort of dumpable/reusable optionā¦
Worst thing I spent money on: Driving down to Bend, we stopped for dinner at a brewery and had terrible nachos. The next morning, I tried a bagel shop and had a meh bagel with pretty bad coffee. For 2 people in 12 hours, I spent $98.65 on food that was just fine when I couldāve spend a third of that for a pretty solid line-up of travel groceries I couldāve cooked myself or snacked on-the-go. šø Remembering this next time.
